WWI in Rare Colorized Photos As You've Never Seen Before
by Danielle Propheta
2018 marks 100 years since the end of WWI, the war to end all wars. The Great War, as it was often called, raged on for four bloody years, leaving whole cities and towns destroyed and causing the deaths of millions of military personnel and civilians. While this war might seem like a very long time ago, these colorized photos of the conflict bring that merciless time back to life. The majority of World War I images have been immortalized in vintage monochrome prints as color photography wouldn’t become widely used for decades to come. Not only do these rare photographs of soldiers, civilians, children, and buildings make everything real again, they also show how most people stood by one another and courageously helped fellow citizens. Read here for an epic trip back to the First World War as you’ve never seen before.
