Riverton FamilySearch Library September 2016 Seminar

The Riverton FamilySearch Library has announced its free seminar series on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 9:00 a.m.–12:20 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Diane C. Loosle, director of the Family History Library and FamilySearch centers worldwide and is currently Director of the Patron Services Division.

9:00–10:00 a.m. Keynote Speaker: Diane C. Loosle

Topic: “You Gotta’ Have Heart: The Key to Successfully Finding Your Ancestors”

Following the keynote presentation, two blocks classes will be offered.

10:10–11:10 a.m. Choose one of the following five classes:

  • “Basic Computer Skills Lab” by Kenneth Spencer
  • “Getting the Most out of FamilySearch: Tools to Help You be Successful” by Diane C. Loosle
  • “Tracing Your Tracting Ancestors: Early Mormon Missionary Database” by Ryan Combs
  • “History of Temple Ordinances” by Kaylene Williams
  • “Ancestral Quest Intro” by Bud Wood

11:20 a.m.–12:20 p.m. Choose one of the following four classes:

  • “Basic Graphic Skills Lab” by Kenneth Spencer
  • “File Organization Beginning” by Bud Wood
  • “Tracing Your Tracting Ancestors: Early Mormon Missionary Database” by Ryan Combs
  • “History of Temple Ordinances” by Kaylene Williams

The Riverton FamilySearch Library is also hosting a “Christmas in September”

Family Discovery Day.

The day entitled “The Gift of Family” will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Displays of family history, related gifts for Christmas, short demonstrations, and interactive activities will be introduced. These include a personal history video in the Story Room, the creation of an online version of “My Family Booklet,” a demonstration of how to use the photo box, a display of an ancestral scrapbook, a demonstration of the creation of a pedigree chart out of paper dolls (for the younger ones), and other activities that are found in the Family Discovery Center in Salt Lake City.

Any last-minute class changes will be posted on the RFSL website at www.familysearch.org/fhc/riverton.
