Deed I do!

Summary

We genealogists are accustomed to using the same sources for information about our families: censuses, newspapers, and the like. But there are also various kinds of records kept in various places that could give us more information on the families, their locations, when they lived in a certain place etc.

Of course, I am talking about deeds. If your ancestors did not own or lease property, that makes a difference. While there are signed leases for rentals, I do not recall ever seeing such things recorded in official offices. But if your family did have an interest in property, then you are in luck.
